Privacy Policy
Screen Seal (“we,” “us”) provides the Screen Seal mobile application and related services. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and your choices. By using the app, you agree to this policy together with our Terms of Use.
Information we collect
Account and profile: email address and credentials handled by our authentication provider, plus preferences you provide (such as daily screen-time goals and onboarding choices).
App blocking and rules: schedules, selected apps or categories, intervention settings, streaks, and related configuration needed to operate blocking and shield features on your device.
Screen Time and device activity: with your permission, Apple’s Screen Time and Family Controls frameworks provide usage summaries, pick-up counts, and related metrics shown in the app. This data is processed on your device and in Apple’s system extensions we ship with the app; we do not receive a full history of every app you open outside what Apple’s APIs expose to the app for the features you enable.
Subscriptions and purchases: subscription status, product identifiers, and transaction-related identifiers needed to provide access. Purchases through the App Store are processed by Apple; we do not receive your full payment card number from Apple.
Technical and usage data: device type, operating system and app version, diagnostics, error logs, and in-app usage information we use to operate, secure, debug, and improve the service.
Notifications: if you opt in, a push notification token and related preferences so we can deliver reminders or intervention prompts you request.
Support: information you send when you contact us for help.
How we use information
We use information to provide and personalize the service; create and maintain your account; sync your goals, rules, and related settings when you sign in; validate subscriptions and entitlements; deliver optional notifications you enable; detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security issues; comply with law; and understand reliability and feature usage so we can improve the app.
Legal bases (EEA, UK, and similar regions)
Where laws such as the GDPR apply, we process personal data as necessary to perform our contract with you; based on our legitimate interests (for example, security, product improvement, and internal analytics) where those interests are not overridden by your rights; with your consent when required (such as Screen Time authorization and certain notifications); and to meet legal obligations.
Sharing, processors, and disclosures
We share information with service providers that process data on our behalf (such as cloud hosting, database and authentication providers, and subscription or paywall partners). They may use information only as we instruct and as described in their privacy notices. We may disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights, safety, or property of users or the public, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale where permitted by law and with appropriate notice when required.
We do not sell your personal information for money as that term is commonly understood in U.S. state privacy laws.
Apple and platform permissions
Screen Seal uses Apple’s Family Controls, Managed Settings, Device Activity, and related APIs when you grant permission. Apple’s terms and privacy practices also apply to data Apple processes on your device. Purchases through the App Store are subject to Apple’s terms and privacy policy for those transactions.
Retention and security
We retain information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward for backups, disputes, and legal requirements unless a shorter period applies. Blocking configuration may remain on your device after sign-out until you change it in the app. We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No online service is completely secure.
Your rights and choices
Depending on your region, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You can update account details and many preferences in the app, manage push notifications in device or app settings, revoke Screen Time permission in iOS Settings, and delete your account where the app provides it. To exercise other rights, contact us using the options below.
California and other U.S. state residents
If you live in a U.S. state with a consumer privacy law, you may have additional rights (such as to know categories of data collected, to delete, or to opt out of certain “sales” or “sharing” for targeted advertising). We do not sell personal information for money. To submit a request, use the contact methods below.
International transfers
If you use the app from outside the United States, your information may be stored and processed in the United States or other countries where we or our processors operate. Those countries may have different data protection rules than your own.
Children
The service is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where a higher age applies under local law), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children in that age group. If you believe we have collected a child’s information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy in the app and on this page and revise the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the app after changes may constitute acceptance where allowed by law.
